Yesterday I spent the day in Vancouver at the Fairmont Pacific Rim meeting new people who work in the Tourism and Hospitality industry as well as students looking to further their future. It was a good day and I got to see a new part of Vancouver that I had never been to.
On my way home last night a rain and wind storm started and it continues today. I think it is supposed to continue tomorrow as well so that should be fun times for the runners taking part in the Harriers Pioneer 8k Road Race. I am hoping the rain breaks at 11:00am when the race starts and stays away until all runners are through the finish line.
Today Warren and I were up at 4:30am even though we had no reason to be up. It was nice though because we didn’t have to rush off to work or be some place particular so we could ease into the day. We spent a couple of hours watching some shows we had missed during the week over coffee and had some snuggle time with the cats.
After a bit I suggested to Warren that we go for a walk just to get some fresh air since the rain had stopped. Mid-way to our destination the rain started to come down again. Thankfully we had dressed for rain just in case because by the time we got back we were wet and cold.
Before we went on our walk Warren mentioned that he wanted to go to the Noodle Box for lunch. I was good with that because I love their Spicy Peanut box with tofu. They opened at 11:00 and since we were up so early we were ready for lunch by then. We walked in their door a minute or two after 11:00am and we were their first customers of the day. Not long after though more people arrived for lunch as well which was nice to see.
While we waited for our lunch Warren said he had a little errand to run. I went with him and as we turned the corner we headed towards a store called Cupcakes. Warren went in and bought two Nutella frosting cupcakes with marble cake as the base. One of them was my birthday cupcake. It was a sweet thought and nice of him to do.
After lunch we ran a few more errands and then headed home. It was a great day enjoying the simple things.
What are some little things you enjoy on rainy days?
