So, the big day is one sleep away and we are almost there. Are you excited and ready to start?
The next two months will be fun and I am looking forward to seeing how this all works since I have never done something like this before.
We have 33 people taking part and if more want to join as the relay starts they can. But right now with the 33 of us we have a lot of running to do to get around the world. I have totalled the kilometres we are scheduled so to speak to run a total of 6635.5km.
I did a Google search to find out how far it is and trusty Google to me this:
Wonder if we will do more than we think? I think we are going to be tired by the time April 30th arrives. It is a good thing that Easter falls in there so we can get some chocolate to fuel us.
If you want to sign up for the Around the World Running Blog Relay 2014 you are still able to. There is no cost. It’s just for fun and to connect with more bloggers at the same time you get to do what you love. Sound good? Sign up using this form to do so.
What is on the schedule for your first run?
This is so exciting! My mileage will be a bit lower than I’d like, but at least I’m somewhat running again.

That is what matters. My milage isn’t a lot either but just happy to be out and one foot in front of the other. This is more thank just the km’s 🙂

Squeeee! I’m excited! My first scheduled run isn’t until Monday, but I’m hoping to get on with it from then. Good luck, everyone! 🙂

My first run will be Sunday.
I’m excited too. Now that I have seen how far it is to go around the world I may have been a little too eager. Haha

Since I am training for my first triathlon, I plan to do a brick tomorrow, which involves about 20 to 30 miles on the bike, and then hopefully 4 miles on foot. Let’s get this thing started. 🙂

Great! Happy to hear you are going to take part. Once you sign up I will have your email address and I will email once a week on Saturday to get your km’s ran for the week. Then I will post about how far we have all gone in the week.

I’m really excited about this too! I did my usual Saturday morning parkrun today, together with a 3km warmup, so that’s the first 8km in the kitty from me! I have two races this month, so my milage won’t be quite as high as per usual, as I’ll spend most of the time tapering. However, I’ll still run a half marathon and a marathon in March, so it’ll all add up. 😉 Incidentally, what is the procedure for logging the distances we run? I’ve created a page on my own blog where I log my runs for this relay, but is there an official channel? Sorry if I’ve missed it!

Hi there! Happy to hear you are excited about this. I am too and so are others.
Each Saturday I will email you to find out your distance ran from Saturday to Saturday. You will let me know and then I will post about it on the Sunday letting everyone know how far we have traveled for the week.
Any more questions just let me know. 🙂

Did knowing you had to clock some km’s help you get running?

Great! Thanks for taking part. Glad to have you on board.
I have to update the map later today and I will get your blog, name and location on it.
I will email each Saturday to find out your kilometers and then update the blog each Sunday to see how far we have ran in total.
Have a great day!

You’ll definitely have more entries, I still have to enter my half marathon training for March and April. Just not sure how to do it though because my plan goes by time on my feet rather than set distances. Any suggestions?

Do you wear a watch when you run? Does it calculate distance? If it does just keep track of the distance each week. I will be emailing you each Saturday to find out your Saturday to Saturday distance.
If you watch doesn’t keep distance does it keep pace? You can calculate your distance by pace.
If we don’t have those things I will have to try and figure out something else. 🙂

Oh, and I forgot to ask… Is there a list of participants somewhere so that we can hop over and visit each other?

Hi,
Yes, you can see the participants on the map that I created. If you hover over the places their blogs will come up. I am going to do a post though soon linking everyone so they can be seen better. I still have a few more people to add to the map and I will do that later today after my race this morning. http://bit.ly/NJu8xC

Kyla, I forgot to mention. If anyone needs a place to track their mileage, I’m one of the founders of Smashrun. It’s a very stats driven platform and helps with the quick overviews. Integrates with Garmin and Nike+. It can also import GPX, TCX, and HRM files (which nearly all mobile apps can export). You can see my running stats here: http://smashrun.com/jacklyn.giron – looking forward to seeing everyone’s mileage stack up!
