Some of you may know that I am a Program Associate in the School of Tourism and Hospitality at Royal Roads University while others of you may not. What is a program associate? Well, I am the support staff for the students, the instructors and for the program heads of our bachelor programs. I enjoy my job and where I work.
In May the school manager, Tanya and I took some of the BA in International Hotel Management (BAIHM) students hiking at Gowland Tod Park and they really enjoyed it. They loved exploring the area and doing something they had never done before. Tanya and I enjoyed being their tour guides because we got to be out doing something we both love as well.
A couple of weeks ago Abdulmoshen messaged me on Facebook and said he wanted to go hiking again with Tanya and I. We were happy to go and last night was the night. We headed to hike Mt. Wells because Abdulmoshen had never been there. It is a short hike reaching 352 meters but steep. The evening was warm but not too hot for a hike.
Abdulmoshen met us at the school and we drove the roughly 15 minute drive to get to the parking lot of the mountain. He had asked us to bring a backpack and some ice because he was bringing some food with him. We were looking forward to seeing what he was bringing because we have heard about the tasty meals he makes.
We made our way to the top of the first peak and sat on top of the mountain admiring the view around us.
Abdulmoshen then opened the cooler and brought containers of tabouleh, hummus and baba ghanoush along with some pita bread. I was so excited because I hadn’t had tabouleh since I lived in Halifax.
After we ate we headed back down the mountain. We enjoyed the hike, the company of one another and the views. It was a great way to spend a summer evening. Hiking Mt. Wells in the future won’t be the same because I will wish for the tasty appetizers we shared at the top.
Have you taken friends to explore mountains or parks thta you enjoy? If not get out and make the most of the summer evenings.
